 The new banknote has a motif of Ellora Caves on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage," a statement by the RBI said. All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 20 issued by the RBI in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender, it clarified. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse. The dimension of the new Rs 20 note will be 63 mm x 129 mm, the statement said.

The obverse (front) side of the note contains a see-through register with denominational numeral 100, a latent image with the numeral and also a Devanagari version of the same. It also contains a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi at the centre, with micro letters ‘RBI', ‘Bharat', ‘India' and ‘20', along with with a guarantee clause, Governor's signature with Promise Clause and RBI emblem towards the right of Gandhi's portrait. On the right side of the portrait are -- an Ashoka Pillar emblem and electrotype (20) watermarks.

संविधान की धारा 74 (1) में यह व्‍यवस्‍था की गई है कि राष्‍ट्रपति की सहायता करने तथा उसे सलाह देने के लिए एक मंत्रिपरिषद होगा जिसका प्रमुख प्रधानमंत्री होगा, राष्‍ट्रपति इस मंत्रिपरिषद की सलाह के अनुसार अपने कार्यों का निष्‍पादन करेगा। इस प्रकार वास्‍तविक कार्यकारी शक्ति मंत्रिपरिषद] में निहित है जिसका प्रमुख प्रधानमंत्री है जो वर्तमान में नरेन्द्र मोदी हैं।

मंत्रिपरिषद सामूहिक रूप से लोगों के सदन (लोक सभा) के प्रति उत्तरदायी है। प्रत्‍येक राज्‍य में एक विधानसभा है। जम्मू और कश्मीर, उत्तर प्रदेश, बिहार, महाराष्ट्र, कर्नाटक,आंध्रप्रदेश और तेलंगाना में एक ऊपरी सदन है जिसे विधानपरिषद कहा जाता है। राज्‍यपाल राज्‍य का प्रमुख है। प्रत्‍येक राज्‍य का एक राज्‍यपाल होगा तथा राज्‍य की कार्यकारी शक्ति उसमें निहित होगी। मंत्रिपरिषद, जिसका प्रमुख मुख्‍यमंत्री है, राज्‍यपाल को उसके कार्यकारी कार्यों के निष्‍पादन में सलाह देती है। राज्‍य की मंत्रिपरिषद् सामूहिक रूप से राज्‍य की विधान सभा के प्रति उत्तरदायी है।

संविधान की सातवीं अनुसूची में संसद तथा राज्‍य विधायिकाओं के बीच विधायी शक्तियों का वितरण किया गया है। अवशिष्‍ट शक्तियाँ संसद में विहित हैं। केन्‍द्रीय प्रशासित भू-भागों को संघराज्‍य क्षेत्र कहा जाता है।

भारतीय संविधान की संरचना
यह वर्तमान समय में भारतीय संविधान के निम्नलिखित भाग हैं-

एक उद्देशिका,
448 अनुच्छेद से युक्त 25 भाग
12 अनुसूचियाँ,
5 अनुलग्नक (appendices)
101 संशोधन।
(अब तक 122 संविधान संशोधन विधेयक संसद में लाये गये हैं जिनमें से 101 संविधान संशोधन विधेयक पारित हो चुके हैं। 8 अगस्त 2016 को संसद ने वस्तु और सेवा कर (GST) पारित कर 101वाँ संविधान संशोधन किया।)

अनुसूचियाँ

पहली अनुसूची – (अनुच्छेद 1 तथा 4) – राज्य तथा संघ राज्य क्षेत्र का वर्णन।

दूसरी अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 59(3), 65(3), 75(6),97, 125,148(3), 158(3),164(5),186 तथा 221] – मुख्य पदाधिकारियों के वेतन-भत्ते

भाग-क : राष्ट्रपति और राज्यपाल के वेतन-भत्ते,

भाग-ख : लोकसभा तथा विधानसभा के अध्यक्ष तथा उपाध्यक्ष, राज्यसभा तथा विधान परिषद् के सभापति तथा उपसभापति के वेतन-भत्ते,

भाग-ग : उच्चतम न्यायालय के न्यायाधीशों के वेतन-भत्ते,

भाग-घ : भारत के नियंत्रक-महालेखा परीक्षक के वेतन-भत्ते।

तीसरी अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 75(4),99, 124(6),148(2), 164(3),188 और 219] – व्यवस्थापिका के सदस्य, मंत्री, राष्ट्रपति, उपराष्ट्रपति, न्यायाधीशों आदि के लिए शपथ लिए जानेवाले प्रतिज्ञान के प्रारूप दिए हैं।

चौथी अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 4(1),80(2)] – राज्यसभा में स्थानों का आबंटन राज्यों तथा संघ राज्य क्षेत्रों से।

पाँचवी अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 244(1)] – अनुसूचित क्षेत्रों और अनुसूचित जन-जातियों के प्रशासन और नियंत्रण से संबंधित उपबंध।

छठी अनुसूची- [अनुच्छेद 244(2), 275(1)] – असम, मेघालय, त्रिपुरा और मिजोरम राज्यों के जनजाति क्षेत्रों के प्रशासन के विषय में उपबंध।

सातवीं अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 246] – विषयों के वितरण से संबंधित सूची-1 संघ सूची, सूची-2 राज्य सूची, सूची-3 समवर्ती सूची।

आठवीं अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 344(1), 351] – भाषाएँ – 22 भाषाओं का उल्लेख।

नवीं अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 31 ख ] – कुछ भूमि सुधार संबंधी अधिनियमों का विधिमान्य करण।

दसवीं अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 102(2), 191(2)] – दल परिवर्तन संबंधी उपबंध तथा परिवर्तन के आधार पर अ

ग्यारहवीं अनुसूची – [अनुच्छेद 243 छ ] – पंचायती राज/ जिला पंचायत से सम्बन्धित यह अनुसूची संविधान में 73वें संवैधानिक संशोधन (1993) द्वारा जोड़ी गई।

बारहवीं अनुसूची – यह अनुसूची संविधान में 74वें संवैधानिक संशोधन द्वारा जोड़ी गई।
